OBJECTIVES
Today we are facing major global challenges related to the gap between the rich and the poor, women’s equality, identity, inter-religious conflict, demographic changes, migration, environmental degeneration, the technological revolution and digitalization as well as the democratic crisis.
In this context, we Jesuit alumni feel an individual responsibility to contribute to the improvement of our local environment guided by the Reconciliation with God, Humanity and Creation, as well as by the Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus for the next 10 years, expressed by General Father.
In order to achieve this mission, a process of discernment has been designed, which starts from a previous work, that will allow us to become aware of the context. During the Congress, different debates will take place around the challenges the world faces and the tools we have at our disposal in order to give them an Ignatian response. And finally we will establish a networked action plan that will allow us to strengthen our commitment to the future as a global community.
This Congress will also represent a transforming meeting where we will live different experiences such as the Ignatian Way, the Spiritual Exercises and the great meeting in Cova de Manresa. We will visit social entities and enjoy together the city of Barcelona, a welcoming city, open to the world and the cradle of Ignatian spirituality, modernism and Gaudi. We will have local volunteers and activities designed for assistants, companions and especially for young people.
We are a global community serving the world. United by values. Moved by the future.
VISION
The magnitude and globality of the challenges forces us to be more efficient and effective than ever before. To this end, we at the World Union Jesuit Alumni firmly believe that in order to promote this task and generate a greater impact, we must strengthen our networking.
CONGRESS OBJECTIVE
To become aware of the potential we have as a global network, and to promote a shared mission that will help us contribute more strongly to building a more just and sustainable society.
CONGRESS MISSION
To that aim, we developed a pre, during and post congress experience that invites to feel part of the global network, makes us live in community the Reconciliation and the Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus, enables us to use the network for the benefit of others, and recognizes and passes the baton to young people.
